CROSS KEYS are finally up and running in the Principality Premiership as they dismantled Bedwas at the Bridge Field to pick up their first win of the campaign.

Greg Woods' men, who had lost both of their opening games, were quickly into their stride and needed just 33 minutes to secure themselves a bonus point, with the game all but over as a contest by the break.

Full-back Ethan Davies bagged himself a brace with flanker Scott Matthews, skipper Leon Andrews and No.8 Adam Powell also crashing over to put Keys 36-10 up at the turnaround.

Replacements Luke Garrett and Tom Lampard added further tries late on in the magnificent seven-try win, with Davies booting four conversions.

It took Keys less than two minutes to take the lead and it came after a penalty was kicked to the corner and, following a pick and drive from the resultant line out, Matthews – fresh from his hat-trick against Cardiff last weekend – piled over for an unconverted score.

Bedwas then got themselves in front as first outside half Richard Powell kicked a penalty on 10 minutes, before wing Matthew John scored a try six minutes later after a good team move started by Deri Mattravers, with Powell converting.

However back came Keys four minutes later and, after Andrews' drive was stopped just short of the line by some good defensive play, Powell powered over for the visitors' second try – converted by Davies.

Keys extended their lead in the 32nd minute and this time Andrews wasn't going to be denied, picking the ball up and dancing his away past a couple of attempted challengers to the line with Davies converting.

And the bonus point was secure less than a minute later after some good work by outside half Josh Prosser and he offloaded to Davies for an easy dart home, before once again adding the extras.

Four became five right on half time as Davies grabbed his second after another quick Keys breakaway, again unconverted.

With the win already in the bag, Keys took their foot off the gas after the break.

Replacement wing Andy Evans scored a second converted Bedwas try on 64 minutes before Garrett and Lampard put the icing on the cake for Keys with late scores.
