A STRONG defensive performance and an excellent display of goal kicking from fly-half Richard Powell earned Bedwas a 29-13 Principality Premiership win against Llandovery at Bridge Field.
Bedwas led 16-13 at half-time, responding to visiting centre Rhodri Jones’ opening try through Dragons wing Matthew Pewtner’s score in the right corner.
Powell booted 11 points in the first half and continued to punish the Drovers after the break with two more three-pointers.
And the win was secured when hooker Rhys Hutcherson was driven over, Powell completing a perfect performance from the tee by adding the extras.
Bedwas climb to sixth in the table but must wait a month for their next league action against Cardiff in the capital.
Bedwas scorers: tries – M Pewtner, R Hutcherson; conversions – R Powell (2); penalties – R Powell (5)
Llandovery scorers: try – R Jones; conversion – J Garland; penalties – J Garland
