PONTYPOOL RFC have announced that director of rugby Alun Carter has left the club with immediate effect.
A statement from the club reads: “Pontypool RFC today announces that the club and Alun Carter have mutually agreed to part company with immediate effect.
“Carter served as a rugby consultant for Pooler during the 2013/2014 season before being appointed as the club’s director of rugby in July 2014.
“Everybody at Pontypool RFC wishes Alun every success in his future endeavours and we thank him for his services to the club.”
Former Wales head analyst Carter, who won two caps in 1991, was promoted from his role of rugby consultant after head coach Mike Hook left to join Bridgend in the summer of 2014.
He made 141 appearances in the back row and wrote the highly-acclaimed book 'The Good, the Bad and the Ugly: The Rise and Fall of Pontypool RFC'.
Carter was part of the Wales backroom between 1998 and 2007, working under Graham Henry, Steve Hansen, Grand Slam winner Mike Ruddock and Gareth Jenkins, before spending five years as team manager at Worcester.
