NEWPORT Gwent Dragons wing Aled Brew is poised for another month on the sidelines after suffering a setback in his comeback from injury.

The former Wales international hasn't played since November 7 because of a back problem but had returned to training and it had been hoped he would return in the LV= Cup encounter against Exeter Chiefs at Rodney Parade.

However, the 28-year-old has suffered a setback and is not expected to be in contention for the next three or four games.

Brew has made 10 appearances since returning to Rodney Parade from Biarritz last summer but is yet to add to his regional record tally of 43 tries.

The Dragons will be without Wales backs Hallam Amos and Tyler Morgan because of Six Nations duty so Ashton Hewitt, who came off the bench in last weekend's win against Stade Francais, is set to come in against the Chiefs.

There will be the usual mix of youth and experience for the Anglo-Welsh competition with those who have had a heavy workload in recent weeks given a breather.

Former Wales and Lions back row forward Andy Powell is in contention for a return to the fray while Ian Gough, Cory Hill and Matthew Screech are battling for starts in the second row.

"We will give some players a rest and it's really important to give our youngsters game time," said head coach Kingsley Jones.

"A lot of them haven't featured of late because we are trying to get continuity of selection but we've got a smaller group in training this week.

"There will be opportunities for the likes of James Benjamin, Ashton Hewitt, Dorian Jones, Angus O'Brien and there will be the likes of Richie Rees, Ashley Smith and Ian Gough in there to bring experience.

"But it's also important that we keep winning, we are now six from eight and want to continue that run.

"We value the tournament greatly and Ian Gough's got 64 caps for Wales so we are not talking a youth team, there will be a good blend."
