JASON Tovey will make his first start at fly-half since January in Newport Gwent Dragons Guinness Pro12 encounter with Edinburgh at Rodney Parade tomorrow evening (kick-off 7.30pm).

Tovey, the leading points scorer in the region’s history, has been used as a full-back recently but takes over at 10 from Dorian Jones with director of rugby Lyn Jones making six other changes to the XV that lost 29-10 to the Scarlets at Judgement Day.

Ashton Hewitt comes in on the wing with Tom Prydie shifting to full-back and Luc Jones slots in at scrum-half, backed up by Richie Rees who hasn’t featured in a squad since February.

Rhys Thomas returns to captain the side from hooker, Cory Hill is back at lock and Nick Crosswell and Nic Cudd return to the back row.

Edinburgh make one change to the tight five that destroyed the Dragons in the Challenge Cup semi-final at Murrayfield last month – lock Fraser McKenzie coming in for Anton Bresler – while Sam Hidalgo-Clyne, tormenter in chief that night, pulls the strings from scrum-half.

The Scots, edged out by Gloucester in last Friday’s Challenge Cup final, are a point behind the sixth-placed Scarlets in the race for the final automatic qualification spot for next season’s Champions Cup.
