OPPORTUNITY knocks when Cross Keys attempt to keep their winning habit against Bridgend in the Principality Premiership.

Keys are looking to make it three victories on the spin when they welcome the Ravens to Pandy Park and they have tinkered with the XV that romped to an eight try 58-22 success against Llanelli.

Lock Danny Hodge, back row forwards Scott Matthews and Ieuan Jones, scrum-half James Leadbeater, fly-half Ethan Davies and centres Leon Andrews and Polu Uhi are joined by eight fresh faces – but head coach Greg Woods stresses that this is not a sign of taking pointless Bridgend lightly.

"It was always our plan to give players opportunities and we named the two XVs before last week's game against Llanelli," he said.

"This is not a weakened side, it's just a different one and the boys have to respond after what was an excellent performance against Llanelli.

"We've got big games coming up against Ebbw Vale and Pontypridd so this is a chance to stake a claim for starts.

"As a coaching team we want to have some big decisions to make so they will have to perform well against a Bridgend side who we are not taking lightly. They are the Swalec Cup holders and will be coming here hungry to get that first win."

Keys endured a frustrating start to the campaign with defeats to Llandovery and Cardiff that could, and perhaps should, have been wins.

They have fired back with a 50-22 victory at Bedwas and last week's romp against Llanelli.

"It's been pleasing to score more tries after previously having lots of possession and territory without converting it on the scoreboard," said Woods.

"Being clinical can become a habit but we still have plenty of hard work to do – we missed 22 tackles last week."

Keys give starts to full-back Owen Howe and loosehead Gary Carpenter against the side they left in the summer.

Cross Keys: O Howe, L Lewis, L Andrews (captain), P Uhi, N Trowbridge, E Davies, J Leadbeater, G Carpenter, E Shipp, A Lott, S Andrews, D Hodge, R Tucker, S Matthews, I Jones.
