A NEWPORT Gwent Dragons supporter and skin cancer sufferer has arranged a fundraising rugby evening at Rodney Parade.

Mike Lockey was diagnosed with stage two malignant melanoma in 2000 and last year it was discovered that it had spread to his bowel, lungs and bones. He is currently undergoing treatment at Velindre Hospital in Cardiff.

Mr Lockey has been a prolific fund-raiser and has raised over £20,000 through various charity challenges, including long-distance runs and mountain hikes.

Now he has arranged a charity night in Rodney Hall at Rodney Parade on Friday, July 22 to raise funds for a number of charities, including Cancer Research.

The event will be compered by BBC Scrum V's Phil Steele and featuring Q&As with Dragons hooker Rhys Buckley, former flanker Jamie Ringer and evergreen wing Lenny Woodard.

There will be a buffet, live band, raffle and an auction featuring items such as a Wales shirt signed by this year's squad, a Lions jersey signed by Taulupe Faletau and Shane Williams, a signed Dragons jersey, rugby balls signed by Jonathan Davies and Scott Quinnell, one of Ashley Williams' match-worn Wales jerseys and a Jonah Lomu print.

Tickets cost £25, go to tacklingmelanoma.com for more information.
