FORMER Newport Gwent Dragons scrum-half Alex Walker will head to face his old club on Saturday fresh from being named as Ealing Trailfinders' captain.

The 30-year-old Wales 7s international, who appeared 41 times for the Dragons and played 66 times for Newport RFC, joined Ealing in 2014.

He has become an influential figure and was named as supporters' player of the year for the second successive season in 2015/16.

"It's a huge honour for me to be asked to be Ealing Trailfinders club captain," said the half-back from Newport, a former pupil at Hartridge and Bassaleg.

"I am now into my third season at Vallis Way and I have enjoyed the challenges that the past two seasons have brought; winning National One was a particular highlight.

"Last season was tough at times, playing in the Greene King IPA Championship, but I think we matured as a team and this will put us in good stead for the forthcoming season."

Walker, who also had spells with Cardiff Blues and the Scarlets after being released by the Dragons, is one of a number of familiar faces in the Ealing ranks.

They boast former Dragons and Wales wing Will Harries, ex-Dragons hooker (and now a flanker) Arthur Ellis, former Dragons academy scrum-half Josh Davies and Cross Keys old boy James Cordy-Redden on their roster.

Saturday's friendly fixture (kick-off 3pm) takes place at the region's training base in Ystrad Mynach and is free for season ticket holders, who must get a match ticket from the Dragons ticket office.

Entry costs £10 for adults, £5 for concessions and £2 for under-16s. There is no parking at the ground.
