NEWPORT Gwent Dragons’ Cerys Hale and Rebecca de Filippo have been called into the Wales XV for the Women’s Six Nations clash with Scotland along with Olympian Jasmine Joyce.

Loosehead Hale and centre de Filippo will start at Broadwood Stadium on Friday (kick-off 6.20pm) while regional teammates Elinor Snowsill and Rebecca Rowe get the nod at fly-half and lock respectively with scrum-half Sian Moore and centre Gemma Rowland are among the replacements.

Wing Joyce and starting 9 Rhiannon Parker will make their Test bows against the Scots as Wales attempt to fire back after their hammering by England last round.

“The response of the players following the England match has been outstanding. From the Sunday following that game, our focus immediately moved on to Scotland,” said coach Rowland Phillips.

“Scotland’s last two performances in the competition – losing to a last-minute play from Ireland and being very competitive in the first 20 minutes against France – shows how much they have improved this season. We will need to be ready for this challenge.”
