WING George North is back in the Wales side for Saturday’s Six Nations clash with Scotland while lock Luke Charteris returns on the bench.

North missed the loss to England with a leg injury suffered against Italy in Rome on opening weekend but returns in the 14 jersey in the sole change to the XV for Murrayfield.

Newport Gwent Dragons lock Cory Hill misses out on a matchday squad for the first time after Charteris proved his fitness after hand and hamstring injuries.  It means there is no Dragons presence in a Wales 23 for the first time since the autumn of 2010.

Bath forward Charteris, former skipper at  Rodney Parade, backs up captain Alun Wyn Jones and the in-form Jake Ball.

Head coach Rob Howley resists the temptation to bring back number eight Taulupe Faletau after his return from a knee injury off the bench against the English, sticking with the trio of Sam Warburton, Justin Tipuric and Ross Moriarty after their strong starts to the campaign.

“We have been able to select from a position of strength which is a huge positive and it is good to welcome George back into the starting XV and Luke on to the bench,” said Howley.

“In terms of intensity and performance, we stepped up a level against England and we need to take the positives from that performance and take it into 80 minutes against Scotland at Murrayfield.

“We know what we are capable of and we want to deliver that on Saturday alongside the result, which international rugby is all about”
