FORMER Newport RFC centre Adam Palfrey has returned to the club as part of the Black and Ambers' commercial team.

Palfrey played 33 times for Newport between 1995 and 1997, winning the most promising player in his first campaign at Rodney Parade.

He also counts Cardiff, Swansea, London Welsh, Caerphilly and Neath among his former clubs and is a Cambridge Blue.

Palfrey has previously worked as head of sales in Asia for Inter Milan but has returned to Wales to work as commercial director for Refreshing, a sponsorship and development agency that specialises in sports, entertainment and educational companies.

In his spare time the 46-year-old will use his expertise to help the Black and Ambers with his commercial nous.

Palfrey said: "I see a real need for many sports organisations and clubs in Wales to be educated in areas of sports sponsorships and commercial partnerships.

"There is certainly opportunity out there to generate much needed revenue if clubs can look at their offering and provide value to commercial partners."

Newport RFC Commercial Director Kevin Jarvis said: "In the short few weeks that Adam has been back at Rodney Parade I have been engaged by his positive influence and enthusiasm to drive the club forward.

"Adam has arrived with a bag full of fresh ideas, some of which we hope to start rolling out soon to support our current team and the black and ambers of the future."

Newport are next in action on Wednesday, December 20 when they host Cross Keys in their final Premiership fixture before the eastern and western conferences are united.

The Black and Amber are offering a season ticket offer for phase two of the league season, which starts with a home fixture against Cardiff RFC on Saturday, December 30.

It costs £75, or £50 for concessions, and application forms can be downloaded from blackandambers.co.uk. Entry for supporters aged 16 or under is free.
