NEWPORT County AFC are still waiting to hear if striker Joe Pigott will be cleared to play in Saturday’s FA Cup clash at Luton Town.

Pigott, who is on loan from Championship club Charlton Athletic until November 22, scored a spectacular equaliser in his last appearance to earn a 1-1 draw against Accrington Stanley at Rodney Parade on October 25.

The 20-year-old missed last Saturday’s 2-2 draw at Hartlepool United due to illness but should be fit to face the Hatters if he is cleared to play.

The Addicks have until Friday at midday to decide whether to allow Pigott to become cup-tied.

Fellow loan stars James Loveridge, Curtis Obeng and Scott Tancock, all from Swansea City, and goalkeeper Joe Day from Peterborough United have all been given permission to take part by their parent clubs.

Kyle Patten, who was recalled from his loan at Bath City last week and was an unused substitute at Hartlepool, will not feature at Kenilworth Road.

The 20-year-old midfielder is ineligible because he played in the cup for Bath against Poole Town, Shortwood United and East Thurrock United.

Patten was a late substitute in the Romans’ 7-1 humbling at lower-league East Thurrock on October 25 before returning to Rodney Parade.

Former Luton players Robbie Willmott and Danny Crow will miss a reunion with their former club but striker Aaron O’Connor is set to take on his ex-employers.

And there may be a familiar face in the opposition squad if central defender Fraser Franks is passed fit.

The 23-year-old made just one ill-fated appearance for the Exiles while on loan from AFC Wimbledon in March 2012.

He filled in for the injured Gary Warren in a 2-0 defeat at Lincoln City before picking up an injury himself.

But Franks enjoyed a successful spell at Welling United as they won the Conference South in 2013 and he was snapped up by Luton for an undisclosed fee in January.

He made 17 appearances for the Hatters in the second half of last season as the club won the Conference Premier title and promotion to the Football League

And Franks started three games in August before undergoing a hernia operation in September.

He returned to training last month and has played in behind closed doors friendly matches so this cup tie could be seen as the ideal opportunity for the defender to make his first team comeback.
