A STOPPAGE-TIME red card for Aaron O'Connor spoiled another good day for Newport County AFC who saw off Stevenage 2-0 at Rodney Parade.
O'Connor, who opened the scoring with a header on 26 minutes, was shown a straight red for lashing out at Dean Wells in time added on at the end of the second half.
Darren Jones had doubled County's advantage just before the break and the Exiles held on comfortably until O'Connor's moment of madness at the death.
The in-form striker will now miss the next three games, including next week's trip to his former club Luton Town.
But Justin Edinburgh’s men are up to sixth after extending their unbeaten League Two run to nine games and are now just just three points off Shrewsbury Town in the third automatic promotion spot.
