NEWPORT County chairman Les Scadding has reaffirmed his commitment to the Exiles.

Writing directly to fans in tonight’s match programme for County’s home clash with Tranmere Rovers, the Euro millions winner squashed speculation that he’s looking for an exit from the club.

The 58-year old also gives his thoughts on the departure of manager Justin Edinburgh in a statement that is sure to put some minds at ease.

“It has been a while since I have spoken directly to you, the supporters, but I feel it is important at this time of change and the new era that we’re about to enter that I write to you,” he explains.

“I want to reassure the supporters that I am still committed to the football club and I am in constant communication with Howard Greenhaf, Jackie Tutton and our three new non-executive Directors.

“I would like to welcome Chris Blight, Duncan Jardine and Kevin Morris as our new non-executive Directors and I believe their involvement in the club will only add to our strength off the field.

“It has been a tough time for the club and the three new members will be able to assist Howard Greenhaf and Jackie Tutton in the day to day running of the football club.

“I would like to put on record my gratitude and thanks to Howard and Jackie over the last couple of weeks, both have worked tirelessly to achieve a good outcome for the club, I really can’t thank them enough for the work that they do for the football club.”

Scadding also praises Edinburgh and wishes him success in his new role at League One Gillingham.

“It is never easy to lose a Manager and Justin has done a fantastic job for the club, when he joined us we were languishing in the relegation zone of the Conference and he has guided the club to two Wembley appearances and back to the Football League on what was an historic day for the football club in May 2013.

“We wish Justin all the best in his new role at Gillingham and our focus turns to the future and a new era for Newport County AFC.”

Scadding also confirmed that Jimmy Dack has the confidence of the County board.

“As we announced on the weekend Jimmy Dack will take the role of Caretaker Manager for the foreseeable future and he will be assisted by First Team Coach Wayne Hatswell, we as a Club are fully supportive of Jimmy and Wayne in the interim period and will support them, the staff and players 100%.

“Jimmy came to club with Justin and he has worked tirelessly behind the scenes together with Justin to get us where we are today, he has been a key part of the success of the football club and we could not have done it without him, Jimmy will give the club his all during this period and we have no doubt he is up to the task.”

And in a call to arms to supporters, Scadding urged everyone to stick together with the Exiles still in a strong position in League Two.

“We now need everyone to come together and get behind Jimmy, Wayne, the staff and the team, your support as fans has been second to none this season and I know we can count on you to be there for the club going forward and get us back on track,” he writes.

“Whatever the way forward it has been a tremendously difficult time for everyone concerned at the club and I feel the way Jimmy, the staff and players have conducted themselves throughout this last week having been put in a difficult position has been second to none, they have showed the club loyalty, dignity and support for this football club and we must now get behind Jimmy and the boys during this period and we must ‘back the Dack’.

“It is important that during this period we make everything as normal as possible, in order for the staff and players to get on with the job they have to do and everyone at this football club is working hard behind the scenes to keep the good start to the season going, both on and off the field.”

Scadding also gives his thoughts on the departure of chief executive Dave Boddy in tonight’s match day programme, which will be on sale at Rodney Parade.
