MANSFIELD Town can count on some insider knowledge from Lenny Pidgeley for tomorrow night’s clash against Newport County AFC.

The goalkeeper, on loan from County to the Stags, can’t face his parent club but he will be helping his replacement Sascha Studer in his preparation.

And, once the action gets under way, Pidgeley says he’ll be supporting the Stags as they look to continue their move away from the League Two drop zone.

The former Chelsea stopper has helped his new team to three wins and a draw in six games since leaving Rodney Parade.

It will be Studer’s first appearance since December and Pidgeley says: “I know a few of the boys, so I’ll let him know what my thoughts are on it.

“Sascha has been really good in training since I got here.

“He’s keeping himself sharp and looking sharp in training, so I’ve got every confidence that if he comes in he will do a good job.

“Newport have probably got one of the best home forms in the league, so going there is going to be a tough game,” he told the Nottingham Post.

“I won’t be able to play but I’ll be there supporting Mansfield. I better hide!

“Sascha is still at a young age for a goalkeeper,” he added.

“It’s still quite a tender age for a keeper, 23 years old.

“The (Mansfield) management were looking to bring in someone in their 30s with a bit more experience.

“Knowing what to do, what to say and how to be in the changing room is a big thing.

“Sascha is a really good keeper. Hopefully if he is learning from me, then that’s great.”
