Accrington Stanley v Newport County, The Crown Ground, kick-off 7.45pm

NEWPORT County AFC striker Miles Storey says he wants to repay the faith manager Jimmy Dack has shown in him by helping the Exiles over the line in the race for a play-off place.

County take on Accrington Stanley at the Crown Ground on tonight looking to build on four points from their last two games that have taken them up to seventh in League Two.

Storey, on loan from Swindon Town until the end of the season, has so far scored twice in ten appearances and he’s hungry for more goals in the final eight games of the campaign.

“I was only here for a couple of days before [Justin] Edinburgh left but Dacky has done a great job and he’s decided to keep me on,” said Storey.

“I think I’ve got to repay that faith and try to score and set up as many goals as possible.

“I like it down here. I like the manager and Wayne Hatswell, the physio, the players; it’s a proper club in my eyes and I really want to do well here.

“It’s a good place for me to be until the end of the season and I want to score as many goals as I can between now and then.”

Having started out wide in his first few games for the club, the 21-year-old is relishing the chance to show what he can do in his preferred role up top.

Storey is expecting a tough test at Accrington but sees the match as an ideal opportunity to steal a march on the club’s rivals.

“We’re in a good position; four points in the last two games has propped us up a little bit and we need to really build on that now,” he said.

“We’ve got an opportunity to do that at Accrington and it will be a big result if we go there and get a win.

“If we take the form we’ve had in the last three games and try to build on that in the last eight games then there’s no reason why we can’t do something really special.”
