LEYTON Orient may come to Rodney Parade as League Two leaders tomorrow but Newport County AFC manager Terry Butcher says the Londoners can expect a tough time in south Wales, writes Andrew Penman.

The O’s kept up their 100 per cent record with a 3-0 victory over Teddy Sheringham’s Stevenage on Tuesday but Butcher says his side will be undaunted.

And the Exiles boss has backed the home crowd to make the difference.

“Stevenage did well against Orient in the first half but then Orient were able to put on subs and get goals,” he said.

“They’re a good side, a big, strong side. They’ve got Paul McCallum and Jay Simpson up front and Dean Cox in behind them so they’ve got goals throughout the team.

“Lloyd James popped up with a couple at Dagenham as well so they have got players that can score goals.

“Obviously they’re going to be confident because they are the league leaders on maximum points but we went to Hartlepool who had maximum points and did quite a good job there.

“It’s just about taking that next step; getting in front and going on to win the game.

“It holds no worries for us; we’ll just get our game going and have a go at them.

“We’re at home and we’ll have a noisy crowd behind us again,” he added.

“If we can do something on the pitch that excites them the noise levels will rise and our confidence will rise as well.”

Meanwhile, the Newport County AFC Supporters Trust membership has now passed the 1,000 mark ahead of the takeover share offer launch at 7pm on Thursday, August 27, at Newport's Riverfront Theatre.

In a statement the Trust said: "This is an incredible vote of support from the fans of the club, and we have seen membership increase by 700 in just three weeks, which demonstrates the appetite for the proposed fans takeover of the club.

"We are now approaching a critical week in respect of this, and we are looking forward to sharing the plans for the future with supporters at the share offer launch."
