NEWPORT County AFC are remaining tight-lipped over speculation linking teenagers Aaron Collins and Regan Poole with Championship clubs.

The two youth internationals have featured regularly for boss Terry Butcher this term, who has indicated he wants his youngsters to stay.

However, with Newport seeking £225,000 to complete the Supporters’ Trust takeover of the club, others have seemingly decided their top prospects could be ripe for the picking.

The BBC are reporting that Hull City have bid for Poole, with a fee understood to be around the same as Fulham were willing to pay in January. Championship leaders Brighton are also long-term admirers of the 17-year old.

And Sean Dyche’s Burnley are reportedly targeting Collins, though County are thought to be seeking prices for the duo well in excess of what is on offer for the pair.

However, interest is only likely to intensify with under 48 hours remaining before the closure of the transfer window.

The Exiles did not provide an update when contacted by the Argus this evening.

“We are not going to respond to speculation and rumour. There is nothing to report,” a spokesman told the Argus.

Poole is yet to sign a professional contract at Rodney Parade despite playing 20 first team games and undergoing trials at Manchester United and Liverpool.

Collins, a Wales under-19 international, has signed professional terms despite initially not being offered a scholarship at County in 2014.

The transfer window closes on Tuesday at 6pm
