TOMMY O’Sullivan could have played his last game for Newport County AFC after he was called up to the Wales under-21 squad, writes Andrew Penman.

O’Sullivan and Jazzi Barnum-Bobb are both on loan at County from Cardiff City and the Bluebirds have not yet given permission for the pair to play for the Exiles in this weekend’s FA Cup first round tie at Brackley Town.

And O’Sullivan’s inclusion in the Wales squad for the UEFA U21 Championship qualifiers means he is likely to miss County’s League Two clash at Accrington Stanley on Saturday, November 14.

The midfielder, who has been a big hit at Rodney Parade as he’s helped John Sheridan’s side move off the bottom of the table, is set to play for the under-21s against Armenia in Bangor on November 13 and Romania in Wrexham on November 17.

And his current one-month loan spell is due to end on November 14, meaning County fans may have seen the last of him unless he is allowed to play in the cup on Sunday or an agreement can be reached to extend his stay with the club.

Barnum-Bobb’s loan is also up on November 14 but he will be available to face Accrington and Sheridan will be hopeful that he can keep both players for as long as possible.

Former County midfielder Lee Evans, currently on loan at Bradford City from Wolverhampton Wanderers, and Newport-born striker Ellis Harrison are also in Geraint Williams’ under-21 squad.

The team have made an unbeaten start to the qualifying campaign with wins against Bulgaria and Luxembourg followed by an excellent point away against top seeds Denmark.
