NEWPORT County AFC will host Southend United in the FA Youth Cup tie at Rodney Parade on Wednesday night (kick-off 7pm).

The Exiles under-18s booked their place in the second round of the competition by beating Sholing on penalties a fortnight ago.

Southend beat Barton Rovers 9-1 to seal a trip to Newport.

Looking ahead to the tie County academy director Grant Kalahar said: "We are very much looking forward to our next FA Youth Cup game.

“We travelled to watch Southend United in their game against Barton and were impressed with their pace and quality.

"Our lads have been in good form recently and each player has worked hard at their individual game admirably over the last few months, so a step further out of their comfort zones against Southend will help them improve further.

"It should be a tight, competitive match, which we can't wait for.”

Tickets for the game are £5 for adults and £2 for under-18s and are available from the ticket office at Rodney Parade from 10am to 3pm during the week, until 7pm tonight and before and after tomorrow's first team fixture against Yeovil Town.

Tickets can also be bought over the phone on 01633 674963 or online at newportcountytickets.co.uk.
