EXILES boss Warren Feeney was left to rue another Sky Bet League Two loss in his side’s final Rodney Parade outing of the season.

An error by keeper Joe Day resulted in the hosts not clearing a cross and Genaro Snijders slotting home on 40 minutes to give Notts County a 1-0 win.

“I don’t think we played that badly but you could see we lacked that bit of quality,” said Feeney. “And like I said to the players, we got done again by a mistake.

“If you give mistakes away like that then you will lose football matches.

“Unfortunately, we have lost the game, but I have learnt a few things.

“It is the end of the season and we are safe, but we just can’t carry on giving away silly goals.

“I’m disappointed. I don’t think they deserved to win the game but I felt we had enough chances.

“You could look at it and say that Roy (Carroll, Notts County keeper) didn’t have to make a save, and that’s when I go back to having that little bit of quality.”

In Carroll, Alan Smith and Jon Stead, the visitors had three former Premier League regulars with bundles of experience under their belts.

“You look at Smudger (Alan Smith) for them and Steady (Jon Stead), they’re experienced, and Smudger knows his role and he holds the ball up very well,” added Feeney. “He’s still got that brain and led the line very well.”
