NEWPORT County AFC manager Warren Feeney couldn’t hide his anger after his side went down to a 2-1 defeat at Luton Town thanks to a hotly-disputed 97th-minute penalty.

Feeney was incensed after referee Charles Breakspear pointed to the spot for the second time in the match having spotted an apparent foul on Hatters front man Pelly-Ruddock Mpanzu in the box.

Cameron McGeehan scored his second penalty of the contest after Jennison Myrie-Williams had levelled with a goal direct from a corner with 20 minutes left on the clock.

In an entertaining contest Luton also had defender Johnny Mullins sent off on 84 minutes but still managed to secure victory to stay top of the League Two table.

Fuming Feeney said: “You’ve got to watch what you say with these guys but I don’t know if he’s fit to referee in football and that’s my honest opinion.

“I asked after the final whistle if I could have a chat and he kept saying ‘half an hour – you know the rules – half an hour’ and I wanted to ask him a question about what he’s seen.

“Their player apparently has said to him ‘I dived’ and he can’t admit it but take it from that… “Listen, we know what football is like but you could see from their reaction that they got out of jail free tonight.

“I think the first one was a foul but we should have dealt with it.

“It was a 50-50 one but he gave it.

“But the last one was an absolute total disgraceful decision.”
