WARREN Feeney wants to bring in two more players on loan before the transfer deadline on August 31.

The Newport County AFC boss has so far brought in 16 players this summer - 14 permanent signings followed by Jordan Green and Josh Sheehan, on loan from AFC Bournemouth and Swansea City respectively.

But Feeney feels there are still two areas in the squad that need strengthening and, with no midweek game next week, he's hopeful of agreeing deals after Saturday's home clash with Crewe Alexandra.

He told the Argus: “We’re speaking to a couple at the minute. I think you need to with the loans because they’re for five or six months now.

“I think there’s a few boys that I’ve wanted to play – Josh, Biggy [Paul Bignot] and big Toze [Ben Tozer] who is still getting back up to speed – but it’s been tough at the moment.

“The one thing is that their attitude has been top drawer. They’re not just mates, they’re best mates.

“I’m still looking to bring players in but they have to be the right players to fit in football-wise but also into the group.

“There’s a couple of positions, probably two that I’m looking at, to try to strengthen,” he added.

“We’re just waiting, with the amount of games we’ve had in the last week.

“With the free week [next week] it might be a little bit easier for us to get a couple over the line.”
