WARREN Feeney is pleased to have some tough choices to make as he picks his team to face Barnet tomorrow.

The Newport County AFC manager added three new loan signings on transfer deadline day on Wednesday and he should have a fully fit squad to choose from, with the exception of long-term injury victim Lenell John-Lewis.

The arrival of defender Kyle Cameron and strikers Reece Grego-Cox and Rhys Healey made it 19 new faces at Rodney Parade since the end of last season.

Feeney is hoping to make free agent Reuben Reid number 20 and he’s happy to have strong competition for places, particularly up front.

“It’s good,” said the Exiles boss. “I’m not one who doesn’t like confrontation but I don’t hold grudges.

“It’s not about the name on the back of the shirt, it’s about Newport County and doing what’s best.

“I think we just needed to bring in a couple more players to strengthen the squad because six months is a long time.

“With a couple of injuries and you’re down to the bare bones.

“We saw the other night [in the Checkatrade Trophy defeat at Plymouth Argyle] with Dafydd Jones on the bench and Liam Angel making his debut.

“They’re great for the future but you’ve just got to watch and get that little bit of experience in – players who have been around – and I think with the players we’ve brought in we have that.

“We’ve got a good squad and the boys know that but we’ve just got to get a couple of wins on the board.”

Midfielder Josh Sheehan has yet to make his debut since his loan move from Swansea City last month and he misses out again this weekend as he represents Wales under-21s.

“He’s away on international duty now but he will get his chance,” said Feeney.

“He did very well at Yeovil last year and he will get his chance.

“I was pleased the other night to give Tom Owen-Evans a game, Ben Tozer got his first 90 minutes and young Liam [Angel] made his debut.

“And I thought Jordan [Green] was absolutely fantastic. He gave their left-back a torrid time so there were positives from that match.”
