FORMER Newport County striker Aaron Collins enjoyed a dream debut for Notts County today as his late goal earned a point against Grimsby Town.
Collins, who left Rodney Parade for Wolverhampton Wanderers in January, joined former Exiles boss John Sheridan at Notts in a loan deal on transfer deadline day.
And he came off the bench with his new side 2-0 down but completed the Magpies’ comeback with a sweet finish from the edge of the area.
And Collins says Sheridan's advice played a part in his goal.
"He told me that he wanted energy from me, and for me to work hard,” said the 19-year-old.
"While I was on the pitch he helped me, told me where to go and I ended up in a situation and got a goal out of it.
"My target while I’m on the pitch is to do as well as I can for the team – for me as a striker that’s scoring goals.

"That’s what I want to do, I want to be on that pitch scoring goals, getting the team three points and helping us work our way up the league."

For Collins it was an easy decision to join Notts on deadline day.
He told the club website: "I had a phone call on the Wednesday to say that they wanted me on loan. It was a yes straight away.
"I spoke to Jason [Turner] about working with John again. It's a great opportunity for me.
"He’s a great coach and a great manager and hopefully I’ll learn under him."
