NEWPORT County AFC manager Graham Westley expects those players who picked up injuries at Wycombe to be fit in time for the trip to Stevenage on Saturday, writes Ryan Robinson.
Both Sean Rigg (hamstring) and Josh Sheehan (not specified) were forced off during the game at Adams Park, but Westley is confident the duo, plus a couple of others, will feature at Broadhall Way this weekend.
Commenting on Swansea City loanee Sheehan, he said: “He’s playing a lot of football as a young player and his body’s resilience will be limited.
"Josh did go off injured but hopefully he should be back in time for the weekend.”
Another player to find himself injured over the festive period was captain Scott Bennett, but, again, Westley is optimistic of a swift recovery.
“Scott got a nasty injury at the weekend (against Exeter)," he added. "He’s got to see the specialist on Thursday but he’s broken his nose previously and played in the very next game.
"We couldn’t get him to a specialist with it being the holiday season so he needs some checks and a bit of manipulation to get the cartilage back in place.
"But it wouldn’t surprise me if Benno is available at the weekend and I hope he is.”
One other player who missed Monday’s defeat, Ben Tozer, is also expected to be back for the weekend following a stiff neck.
