BOSS Graham Westley has taken his tally of signings in January to seven as he plunged into the loan market again to bring Huddersfield Town striker Florent Bojaj to Newport County AFC.

Kosovo-born 20-year-old Bojaj will stay at Rodney Parade for the rest of the season, with Westley hoping the forward can help the Exiles stave off relegation from League Two.

Albania Under-17 international Bojaj joins Aaron Williams, Jaanai Gordon, Sid Nelson, David Pipe, Mark O’Brien and Craig Reid in moving to County since the turn of the year.

“Flo was appearing in the Championship last season and came to our attention when doing so,” said Newport chief Westley.

“He offers something different to our current forward options as a strong left-footed technical talent, and joins us until the end of the season to bring his excellent all-round game and creative talents to our team.

“As his coach at Huddersfield says, 'if he gets a chance he scores the goal'.”

After moving to the UK with his parents at a young age, Bojaj joined Huddersfield’s academy on the eve of the 2013/14 season following a three-week trial from Borehamwood Youth.

He has made eight substitute appearances in the Championship, scoring for the Terriers in a 3-1 home win over Reading last March.

Bojaj spent the first half of the current campaign on loan at Kilmarnock in the Scottish Premiership, where he made three starts and came off the bench twice.

His Huddersfield contract expires at the end of the season but the Yorkshire club, who are chasing promotion to the Premier League, have the option of a 12-month extension.

“This is an important loan move for Flo and we’re delighted that we’ve managed to arrange this spell at Newport County for him,” said Huddersfield head of football operations Stuart Webber.

“Flo is well versed at under-23 level now and needs more experience of senior football.

“He’ll certainly get that at Newport, where getting points is of paramount importance and livelihoods are on the line.

“We’re looking forward to seeing Flo establish himself in the Newport County side and score goals at Sky Bet League Two level.”

County, on an eight-match losing streak in League Two, host in-form Colchester United this Saturday, by which time Westley could well have added more new faces to his squad.
