NEWPORT County AFC missed out on a place in the FAW Youth Cup final after being edged out by holders Swansea City in Sunday’s semi-final.

The Swans under-19s, who will be looking to lift the crown for the eighth consecutive season, beat Byron Anthony’s County youngsters 1-0 at Port Talbot’s GenQuip Stadium.

It took an extra-time winner from Causso Darame in the 113th minute to separate the sides with a superb 25-yard free-kick.

The Swans will now meet Rhondda side Cambrian & Clydach Vale in the final on Sunday, April 23, after they beat Llandudno 7-1.

The young Exiles had made the last four after beating Newtown 4-1 in the quarter-finals last month.

County have made the FAW Youth Cup semi-finals for three successive years – losing out to Swansea in 2016 and Cardiff City in 2015.
