New deals for Newport County duo but three depart and Randall is back on the transfer list

Flynn also hopes to be able to announce further contract renewals this week but midfielder Mark Randall is back on the transfer list and Craig Reid, Ryan Bird and Mitch Rose have all been released.

Barnum-Bobb, who can play in defence or midfield, scored three goals in 34 appearances after signing for the Exiles from Cardiff City last summer.

Tozer netted once in 31 games but has not played since January after falling out with previous manager Graham Westley and also suffering a knee injury.

Randall (above) was also out of favour under Westley and asked to be placed on the transfer list in January.

But he returned to the side after Flynn took over as caretaker boss in March and played a big part in County’s successful fight against relegation.

The former Arsenal man signed a two-year deal last summer but is back on the transfer list as he seeks a move closer to his young family in Milton Keynes.

“Mark wants to move for personal reasons and I have no problem with that,” Flynn told the Argus.

“He’s doing a lot of travelling and he wants to be closer to home.

“But we have a good relationship and I’d be more than happy to keep him if that’s how it works out.”

County legend Reid (above), who was brought back to the club by Westley in January, did not feature in the last 12 games under Flynn.

Rose and Bird were also Westley signings, making 12 and 19 appearances respectively. Bird scored six goals.

The trio join Darren Jones, Paul Bignot, Jack Compton, Kieran Parselle, Liam Angel, Finlay Wood, Tom Meechan and Marcus Beauchamp in being released this summer.

A club statement said: "We would like to thank Craig, Ryan and Mitch for their efforts this season and for their contribution to the club's Great Escape, which will live long in the memories of all County fans. 

"We would like to wish them all the best in their future careers.

"The club is currently in dialogue with a number of players and hopes to make an announcement later this week."

Flynn is still in talks with Great Escape goal heroes Mark O’Brien and Mickey Demetriou, fellow defender David Pipe, goalkeepers Joe Day and James Bittner, midfielder Jennison Myrie Williams and strikers Lenell John-Lewis and Marlon Jackson.

The new Exiles boss is also being bombarded with calls and messages from agents as he looks to build his squad for the 2017-2018 campaign.

The players currently under contract for next season are Randall, Barnum-Bobb, Tozer, Dan Butler, Scot Bennett, Jamie Turley, Joss Labadie, Sean Rigg, Aaron Williams and Tom Owen-Evans, who signed a new two-year deal last week.

“I’m really pleased for Tom,” said Flynn. “He played a lot of games towards the end of the season and performed well under pressure.

“As long as he continues to develop and listen to what myself and the other coaches are telling him he has a very bright future.

“I’m still talking to a lot of the players but I’m hoping to have some more news imminently,” he added.

County are also set to announce at least two further pre-season fixtures with negotiations at an advanced stage.

But, due to work on the pitch at Rodney Parade this summer, they are unlikely to be able to host any friendly matches before the League Two campaign kicks off again on August 5.
