MUCH-TRAVELLED former West Ham United striker Frank Nouble has signed for Newport County AFC on a one-year deal.

Nouble, who despite having had more than a dozen clubs is still only 25, started his senior career with the Hammers after coming through the Chelsea youth system.

While at Upton Park, where he made 13 appearances, he had loan spells playing for Swansea City, Swindon Town, West Brom, Barnsley, Charlton Athletic and Gillingham.

He moved to Wolves in 2012 before taking in Ipswich Town, Coventry City, Tianjin Quanjian in China, Gillingham again and eventually Southend United prior to signing for the Exiles.

On arriving at Rodney Parade, Nouble, a former England international at under-17 and 19 levels, said: “After speaking to the manager and assistant manager Wayne (Hatswell) I liked the ambition here.

“I’m looking forward to every minute and second of the season and getting the opportunity to come and play some football, and hopefully take this club to higher places.”

County boss Michael Flynn, who also added centre-forward Lamar Reynolds to his squad on Tuesday, added: “I’m delighted we’ve signed Frank.

“He’s the right age for us and I’m looking forward to getting him fully fit and getting the best out of him.

“Once we’ve got that, we’ve got a Premier League player in the making.

“He’s already proved his quality with West Ham and at big clubs in the Championship.

“It’s now time for Frank to get his career back on track.”
