FORMER Newport County AFC captain Gary Warren has joined the Exiles’ League Two rivals Yeovil Town.
Warren, who turns 34 in August, made more than 100 appearances for County between 2009 and 2012.
He helped the club win promotion to the Conference and reach the FA Trophy final at Wembley before departing for Inverness Caledonian Thistle.
After six successful years in Scotland, including lifting the Scottish Challenge Cup as captain, he agreed to cancel his contract with the Highlands club on Wednesday and today signed a two-year deal with Yeovil.
"I'm back home to the South West," said the Bristol-born centre-back.
"It's good to come back and to have been given a chance to come and play for Darren Way and for Yeovil Town.
"But I've been in the game a long, long time to know what it takes to be successful. I'm not coming here to just think it's a chance to come and play, I'm coming here to win things and try and take this club forward and be as successful as we can.”
