NEWPORT County AFC boss Michael Flynn hailed the club’s fans as “unbelievable” after supporters helped fund Cameron Pring’s loan move from Bristol City.

The 20-year-old has joined the Exiles until January with an anonymous group of the Rodney Parade faithful clubbing together to pay his wages.

Pring becomes the third Bristol City player to arrive in Newport this summer after Tyreeq Bakinson and Antoine Semenyo made the switch before the season started.

Pring, who has enjoyed previous loan spells with Merthyr Town, Aldershot Town and Hereford, could feature in the County squad for today’s trip to Port Vale (kick-off 3pm), subject to the club receiving international clearance.

“The fans are unbelievable,” said Flynn. “When there’s a couple of fans dipping into their pockets to pay the donation on the wages towards a player to enable us to get somebody in it’s fantastic.

“I can’t thank them enough, but it just goes to show the reality of where we’re at as a club.

“These fans want to stay anonymous so I’m not going to say too much but there are some people who live and die for this club and would do anything for it.

“It’s not the first time they have done something for us. It might not have been a player but it might have been paying towards some equipment.

“I can’t thank them enough and it shows the spirit at the club and what the club means.”

Flynn also thanked Bristol City, adding: “I’ve watched him (Pring) a few times, he’s got a good pedigree, and it just goes to show the relationship we’ve got with Bristol City is really good.

“The relationship with Bristol City is crucial

because they are helping us and it’s not costing us much to have these players.

“And we don’t have to pay accommodation, which is another sticking point,

because if we got another Ben White we’d have to pay a lot more wages and accommodation, so it’s just not feasible for the club.”

Commenting on Pring, Flynn reckons he will give County just what they need on the left.

“He can play left midfield, left wing-back or left-back,” he continued.

“We feel we’ve got the right one to add to the squad and it gives us balance down that left side.

“He was on loan to Hereford, he played against us in pre-season and then we watched him against Yeovil.

“He’s very quick when he opens up, he’s strong and has got a good left foot, so he’ll give us that balance on the left which I think we need.

“He’s one we needed in case anything happened to Dan Butler or we decided to go with a four.

“He can play left-back and Dan could play left midfield. It gives us more options to do what we want to do.”

And when asked if the signing of Pring was going to be his last bit of business in the transfer market until later in the season, Flynn said: “I’d say that’s it, unless there’s any more fans who want to put some money in!
