DEFENDER Cameron Pring has joined Newport County AFC’s League Two rivals Cheltenham Town for the rest of the season.

Pring, 20, who was born in Cheltenham, made 11 appearances during the first half of the campaign while on loan at the Exiles from Championship side Bristol City.

He was last involved when coming on as a substitute for Mickey Demetriou in the FA Cup replay against Wrexham on December 11.

Pring was an unused replacement for the league trip to Lincoln City 11 days later and didn't feature in a matchday squad after that.

After making his County debut in the Checkatrade Trophy defeat to Swindon Town on September 11, Pring scored his only goal for the club in the 2-0 victory over Colchester United in mid-November.

Pring train with Cheltenham for the first time today ahead of the Robins’ League Two clash with Crawley Town on Saturday.

The former Merthyr Town and Hereford left-sided player becomes Cheltenham boss Michael Duff's first new signing of the January transfer window.

On signing until the end of the season at the Jonny-Rocks Stadium, Pring said: “It’s good to see a few familiar faces like Russell Milton and Pete Haynes and a few of the youth team boys who have stepped up so it’s good to be back.

“I had some good times here so hopefully I can repeat that here now. I hope I get some more game time now and push for the left back spot.”

Pring is available for selection for Saturday's match at Crawley.
