NEWPORT County AFC assistant manager Wayne Hatswell is not concerned by reports linking Exiles boss Michael Flynn with the vacant Bradford City job.

Flynn is currently rated as 14-1 sixth-favourite to fill the Bantams hotseat, having played more than 100 games for the League One strugglers between 2009 and 2012.

But Hatswell says the focus is on beating Carlisle United at Rodney Parade tomorrow to keep County’s League Two play-off hopes alive.

“I don’t know anything about it,” said Flynn’s number two. “I don’t read any papers, to be honest.

“The only one I read is probably the Argus, I suppose. But I’ve not read it this week, I’ve been too busy!

“It shows that [he’s doing a good job]. It’s one of his old clubs and it’s always [going to happen].

“He’s been linked with other jobs before, but he’s got a job to do here and until told otherwise it’s business as usual.

“I’m sure it’s nice for him to be linked with other jobs and long may that continue, because that means you’re doing well.

“First of all we’ve got to think about Newport County and start getting this club going again and getting points on the board for, hopefully, a good end to the season.”

Hatswell was performing media duties as part of his UEFA Pro Licence coaching course.

“It’s part of my Pro Licence so he [Flynn] chose today for me to do it and that was already on the cards,” he explained.

County will be without defender Fraser Franks and midfielder Andrew Crofts tomorrow, but Joss Labadie could return after missing last week’s defeat at MK Dons with a hamstring problem.

“Fraser and Crofty are out but Labs is back in training and hopefully he’ll be OK,” said Hatswell.

“Ben Kennedy has been rested a little bit this week but Vash [Neufville] is back in training as well. Other than that, I think we are fighting fit.”
