FULL-BACK Hallam Amos will not be content with where Newport Gwent Dragons finish in the RaboDirect Pro12 regardless of how final day pans out, writes Chris Kirwan.

The Dragons bring their season to an end when they welcome Treviso to Rodney Parade on Saturday evening (kick-off 6.30pm).

If Lyn Jones' side avoid defeat then they will improve on last season's humiliating 11th-place finish while victory could see them leapfrog Connacht, who head to the Ospreys, into 9th.

That would represent a small improvement but there is frustration in the Dragons camp that they have let a promising position slip after winning just one of ten Pro12 fixtures since the turn of the year.

Amos said: "It would be nice to finish higher than second last but everyone feels we are better than 10th. I am sure next season we will be higher than that.

"We've got a young team that is still learning and this season has been tough at time, 2014 certainly has been.

"We haven't got anything out of the games against the Ospreys and Scarlets recently but our performances compared to last season have been miles better.

"There are boys coming through and hopefully we can carry on improving and growing."

The Dragons have won just one game since the turn of the year – a shock win against title hopefuls Glasgow – and have lost their last four, including a 45-27 battering in Treviso last month.

"The talk in the changing room straight after the Scarlets game was about ending the season with a bang," said Amos. "They beat us heavily and it would be nice to get one back over them."
