JACK Dixon hopes to show his leadership qualities when he heads to New Zealand with Wales Under-20s next month, writes Chris Kirwan.

The Newport Gwent Dragons centre is heading to his third Junior World Championship after being in the squads that finished third at South Africa 2012 and as runners-up at France 2013.

Head coach Byron Hayward will be looking for hard-running Dixon to lead from the front on the field and off it given that he is a regional regular and senior figure in the 28-strong squad.

And the 19-year-old from Newbridge, who is joined in the squad by ten Dragons teammates, is relishing the task of helping along his young teammates Down Under.

"I am a bit of a veteran now! I am really looking forward to it because the last couple of years have been really good experiences," said Dixon.

"I've experienced it all before and know what to expect to a certain extent so I am going to try and push myself to lead the group on and off the field.

"We've done well with a third then a second so hopefully we can go one step further."

Wales Under-20s take on their Scottish counterparts at Bridgend's Brewery Field tomorrow evening (kick-off 7.30pm).

They kick off their Junior World Championship campaign against Fiji on June 2 before taking on Ireland and France with the table-toppers progressing to the semi-finals along with the two other group winners and the best runner-up.
