NEWPORT Gwent Dragons assistant coach Kingsley Jones will take charge of Russia for the final time this weekend, writes Chris Kirwan.

The former Wales flanker is currently in Hannover ahead of Saturday’s World Cup qualifier against Germany.

Russia are currently attempting to join Wales, England and Australia in Pool A but Jones will not be at the helm should they make it to next year's tournament.

“It's with a heavy heart I leave Russia at this time,” said Jones, who joined the Dragons as director of rugby Lyn Jones' right-hand man last summer.

“A big part of me would love to lead the team to their second World Cup and, of course, potentially play Wales at the Millennium Stadium.

“But the time away from the UK from now until RWC 2015 is going to be around 40 weeks and my personal circumstances have changed considerably, having three children under five years old.

“I have really enjoyed my time with the national team, it's been not only a I great coaching experience but also life experience.

“Leading the team to RWC 2011 in New Zealand was an honour and privilege. I would like to thank Vyacheslav Kopiev (Russian Rugby Union president) and Howard Thomas (vice president) for the fantastic opportunity they gave me and all the players and staff for the fantastic efforts and support over the last three-and-a-half years.”
