OCTOBER was a challenging month for Newport Gwent Dragons, who suffered three disappointing defeats along with a stunning success in Paris.

The Dragons were awful in losses to the Scarlets and Edinburgh before sparking into life against Stade Francais in the European Rugby Challenge Cup.

However, they failed to follow up that success when edged out by Newcastle at Rodney Parade last weekend.

Results haven’t gone the region’s way but a number of individuals have performed admirably. Which of the following candidates do you think has been the star performer in September?

NIC CUDD: The winner of the September vote has maintained his form. Kept the score down with determined defensive displays at Parc y Scarlets and Murrayfield and crossed for the bonus point score in Paris.

RYNARD LANDMAN: Proving to be an inspired signing. Has shown a great appetite for work and has been solid at the set piece while he has also shown his leadership qualities.

ANGUS O’BRIEN: Produced a stunning performance when pulling the strings in Paris, booting 18 points and kicking to the corner beautifully. The Wales Under-20s fly-half wasn’t intimidated by the big stage.

RICHIE REES: Was man of the match in both of the Dragons European fixtures, managing the game superbly and helping his young fly-half. Scored the first try in Paris with a cunning snipe and has been at the heart of the Dragons’ much-improved attack.

LEWIS EVANS: Has put in a series of whole-hearted displays and has mixed hard graft with some telling carries in the loose, showing nice hands and an eye for an angle.

(September vote: Nic Cudd 63%, Rynard Landman 24%, Elliot Dee 8%, Hallam Amos 3%, Taulupe Faletau 2%)
