LYN Jones says that Newport Gwent Dragons stand no chance of stopping the Ospreys 'machine' unless they cut out their infuriating errors, writes Chris Kirwan.

The Dragons have been thrashed on their last two visits to the Liberty Stadium, shipping a combined total of 11 tries and 92 points.

And former Ospreys coach Jones says his players must take a leaf out of their hosts' book if they are to upset the odds by toppling the side that started round 13 on top of the Guinness Pro12.

"We have learnt to stop haemorrhaging points but too often we let teams off the hook with inaccurate play," said the director of rugby.

"When I was at the Ospreys we had Sonny Parker in midfield and the thing that struck me with him was the lack of errors in his game.

"There was nothing flash with Sonny but he just didn't make mistakes. When you have got players like that multiplied by 15, delivering as part of a machine, you become a really difficult team to play against.

"I think the Ospreys are there again now with a lot of players who don't make silly errors with the cherry on the icing being the two fantastic players (Wales half-backs Rhys Webb and Dan Biggar) on top of their game in the most influential positions, getting their hands on the ball the most often.

"They Ospreys don't do anything flash but play really good, percentage, accurate rugby. They suffocate teams."

They head west fuelled by the frustration of a 11-9 loss to Cardiff Blues at Rodney Parade when victory would have seen them leapfrog their rivals, who they beat at the Arms Park.

"It was such a heartbreak," said Jones. "Keeping Cardiff Blues to 11 points was really good but our kicking game, which was so good on Boxing Day, was woeful and didn’t take us to the right areas."

The Ospreys triumphed 17-15 when the sides met at Rodney Parade in September after withstanding a late Dragons charge.
