CARDIFF Blues scrum-half Lloyd Williams is top of the European Rugby Challenge Cup scoring charts but in-form Newport Gwent Dragons number 9 Jonathan Evans hopes his own running talents will ensure he's a marked man at Rodney Parade tomorrow (kick-off 12.45pm).

Williams has crossed the whitewash 10 times this term with five scores coming in the Pool One encounters with Rovigo, Grenoble and London Irish.

The 18-times capped Wales international has seen off the challenge of Tavis Knoyle and Lewis Jones for the start but Evans, 22, has been no slouch himself and has taken his try tally to seven with excellent efforts in the recent wins against Ulster and Treviso.

It means that neither defence can afford to switch off at rucks.

"Lloyd is playing really well," said Evans, who is joining Bath next season. "The Blues have been chopping and changing their 9s all season but he seems to have finally become first choice.

"He's a really good player and is quick around the ruck, good at sniping and a real threat. We'll have to keep an eye on him but hopefully the Blues will be looking out for me as well because that can open up space elsewhere.

"I've been in good form recently and think I have benefited from having a good run of games, so hopefully that will continue this weekend."

Evans, from Bargoed, was a replacement in the Dragons' last knockout game when they were beaten 45-17 by Gloucester at Kingsholm in the 2011 LV= Cup. He hopes that home advantage can help secure a repeat of the region's 2007 victory over Brive in the last eight.

He said: "We beat the Blues at the Arms Park but on New Year's Day they really brought physicality to the game at Rodney Parade. We've got to match that this time and take it to them.

"We are the home team and haven't had the greatest of results (at Rodney Parade) this season so need to get back to making it a fortress.

"And there has been a really good buzz in the camp this week after last weekend's bonus point win in Treviso. We're in a good place at the moment but have to step it up against the Blues."
