NEWPORT Gwent Dragons have brought livewire wing Ashton Hewitt into their squad for the Singha Premiership 7s finals night at Twickenham Stoop.

The 20-year-old will feature in the tournament after catching the eye with a sprightly display against the Scarlets at Rodney Parade last Friday while fly-half Angus O’Brien replaces Dorian Jones.

Jones was in the team that triumphed at the Welsh leg at BT Sport Cardiff Arms Park at the start of the month but is now concentrating on the 15-a-side format and is poised to feature in Saturday’s final pre-season friendly at Cardiff Blues.

O’Brien has played in the warm-ups against Nottingham and the Scarlets but will instead return to the Stoop, where he was a member of the squad that finished second to Gloucester in the 2014 tournament.

The 20-year-old is joined in Nick Wakley’s squad by fellow seniors Geraint Rhys Jones, Matthew Pewtner, Luc Jones, Ollie Griffiths, James Benjamin and Hewitt.

Wasps will be strongly fancied for the tournament after romping to success in their leg in Coventry and they once again include England aces Christian Wade and Elliot Daly.

The Dragons kick off finals night against Sale Sharks at 6pm and their reward for progress could be another encounter with the Cherry and Whites, who are looking for a hat-trick of titles.

Supporters wishing to cheer on Wakley’s team can book a place on a bus to the Stoop that leaves Rodney Parade at 2pm.

Tickets – including travel and entry to the ground – cost £30 for adults and £25 for under-16s. Call the Rodney Parade Ticket Office on 01633 674990 or email ticketing@rodneyparadeltd.com to make bookings.
