NEWPORT Gwent Dragons will lock horns with English title hopefuls Bath tomorrow in bid to maintain their Rodney Parade winning streak when they host Edinburgh.

Kingsley Jones' side travel to the West Country side's plush Farleigh House headquarters to go up against Todd Blackadder's team, who sit second in the Aviva Premiership and head to Harlequins this weekend.

The Dragons have won their last three fixtures in Newport after beating Brive in the European Rugby Challenge Cup, champions Connacht in the Guinness Pro12 and the Scarlets in the Anglo-Welsh Cup.

They are on a hot streak on their own turf and will to go up against English opposition, and familiar faces Aled Brew and Shaun Knight, to tune-up for a return to Pro12 action on Sunday.

The Dragons travelled to Bath for a training hit-out two years ago and head coach Kingsley Jones is relishing the chance to see his charges put under stress.

"It will be a proper rugby session with some proper preparation towards Edinburgh and the group that trains there is the one that will be involved on Sunday," he said.

"There will be split units with live scrums and driving mauls. It's controlled but is proper preparation under pressure with a referee.

"It's a good relationship with Bath and we've done it in the past with Bristol. It's good and makes things a bit more meaningful.

"You can create scenarios that you need to learn to deal with better and the players have got an edge."

Captain Lewis Evans is set to return from a calf injury suffered against Connacht in the back row while wing Tom Prydie and fly-half Rhys Jones are back in the mix after missing the Scarlets win.

Tighthead Leon Brown and back row forward Harri Keddie are helping Wales with their preparations for South Africa so the 20-year-olds, who both started in the derby win, are unlikely to be considered.

The Dragons fielded a strong side against the Scarlets so changes to the 23 will be kept to a minimum while Edinburgh haven't played since their excellent win against Ulster at the start of the month.

"If you leave people out for a fortnight you can come back and get caught cold," said Jones. "We had an eye on giving some young players an opportunity that they deserve and giving some of the older boys some minutes under their belts.

"On one hand Edinburgh will be fresh but on the other they could be rusty. Only Sunday can tell and there is no right formula."

The Dragons will climb above their eighth-placed visitors in the Pro12 table with victory.
