NEWPORT Gwent Dragons boss Kingsley Jones is looking to finish the 'jigsaw puzzle' by finalising deals for new recruits after securing the services of senior leading figures.

The Rodney Parade region have agreed fresh deals with captain Lewis Evans, Wales wing Hallam Amos, prop Brok Harris, lock Rynard Landman, flanker Nic Cudd, number eight Ed Jackson and centre Adam Warren.

Now Jones is pressing on with adding some new blood to his squad with a fly-half/centre, a back three player and another forward top of his wishlist.

He has taken a back seat and handed the reins to assistant coaches Shaun Connor and Ceri Jones for tomorrow's Anglo-Welsh Cup clash with Gloucester to focus on the recruitment drive.

"I have been busy meeting people and it's just seeing who we can bring in to strengthen us," said head coach Jones.

"Hopefully we will have an announcement on a really good player within a couple of weeks, although there's a little bit of a way to go.

"We need two or three key positions with some experience and we believe that will get us up the table considerably next season.

"I understand what I have got to spend on those positions and a lot of work has already gone in, but you can't formally make that offer until the other parts of the jigsaw puzzle have been completed.

"It's all coming together well and know what we can target. Now we have got to get them over the line."

Jones is pleased to have retained senior figures to aid in the development of the young talent on the Dragons' books.

"I don't think there's a player that we want to keep who wants to leave, which is really positive for us," he said.

"Considering we had so many players out of contract there won't be many leaving and the lads are happy."

The Dragons bid for fresh blood is helped by the freeing up of three 'time-server' slots next season with South Africans Landman, Harris and full-back Carl Meyer becoming Welsh-qualified.
