NEWPORT County AFC have revealed that there is still no solution to their Rodney Parade fixture clash with Newport Gwent Dragons on May 6.

The Exiles, who share the ground with the Dragons and owners Newport RFC, are scheduled to host Notts County at 5.30pm on the final day of the League Two season.

And the Dragons’ final fixture of the Pro12 season is at home to Cardiff Blues on the same day at 5.15pm.

Newport are also set to welcome Cross Keys to Rodney Parade in the Premiership at 2.30pm that afternoon but that fixture is expected to be rearranged.

There is still no solution to the County-Dragons clash, however.

The football club have reiterated that they have primacy of tenure under English Football League (EFL) rules.

“The club’s position is as previously communicated – namely football has primacy,” said County in a communication to their supporters.

“We have been in dialogue with RP and furnished them with a number of documents to support our position.

“The Football League has also been engaged and fully supportive of our position.”

Meanwhile, the club has also revealed that rain covers have been purchased to protect the much-maligned playing surface at Rodney Parade.

“Club officials continue to work with RP and the Football League to manage the position,” said the statement from County.

“We have put in place the plans agreed with the Football League until the end of the season, most notably the procuring of rain covers.

“Whilst these have been bought and paid for by the club, we intend to make them available to RP.”

On the pitch, Graham Westley’s men host League Two leaders Doncaster Rovers tonight (kick-off 7.45pm).

And the Exiles youngsters are in action on Sunday afternoon in the FAW Youth Cup quarter-final against Newtown AFC.

The match takes place at 1pm on Sunday at Lliswerry High School.
