NEWPORT Gwent Dragons hope to reap the rewards of some home truths when they bid to end their Guinness PRO12 away nightmare at Glasgow this afternoon, writes Chris Kirwan.

The Dragons are hunting a first league win away from Rodney Parade in almost two years when they face the Warriors at Scoutston Stadium (kick-off 3pm).

They haven't triumphed on the road since beating Treviso on March 28, 2015 – 22 fixtures ago – and head into today's encounter on the back of a 54-22 home humbling at the hands of Leinster.

That horror show, with some boos on the final whistle, means it's been a week of hard toil at the Dragons' training base.

"Obviously it was a very disappointing performance and result, it's been an honest review and we all made some pretty poor errors in that game," said loosehead Sam Hobbs.

"The coaches pointed out what we need to improve on but the players have held their hands up and senior players have been driving it.

"People have held their hands up and the pleasing thing is that a lot of the mistakes we made can be quite easily corrected.

"We've identified what we did wrong and most of the training week has been about making sure we don't make those mistakes again.

"That isn't what we want to produce in front of our own fans. We've been proud of our home record so hopefully we can get a monkey off our back with an away win and then we owe our fans a big performance against Ulster at home (on March 24)."

The hammering means there has been the need for a combination of old school aggression on the training paddock with cool heads in the classroom.

Hobbs said: "Sometimes as a forwards group you can do the blood and thunder stuff because it's all about collisions but you have to back it up with technical analysis.

"Running into brick walls and having a good smash session, there is a time and a place for that but you will end up making the same mistakes again, so there's a lot more learning."
