Pontypool RFC today announced that the WRU has granted the club 'A Licence' status for the 2014/2015 season, which means they would be eligible for promotion to the Premiership.
The A Licence is awarded to clubs that demonstrate the ability to achieve ‘the higher standard both on and off the field’. Any club needs an A Licence to participate in the WRU Principality Premiership Division.
Pontypool RFC Chief Executive Officer, Peter Jeffreys welcomed the news, saying: “This is a tremendous day for Pontypool RFC, particularly for the club’s incredibly loyal supporter and volunteer base.
“The club attaining an A Licence is a culmination of nearly three years of hard work from everybody associated with Pooler, and I am most thankful for everyone who has stood by us during this time.
“We knew this was always going to be a long term process, but having initially stabilised the club, we have steadily developed our processes and culture season by season, with the ultimate aim of achieving A Licence status for this season.
