BEDWAS head coach Steve Law has demanded that his charges cut out the costly mistakes as they hunt a first home win of the season against title contenders Carmarthen Quins, writes Chris Kirwan.

The Bridge Field side have made a mixed start to the Principality Premiership with a super away win at Cross Keys sandwiched by home losses to Llanelli and Aberavon.

They bagged bonus points in both defeats but will need to up their game if they are to turn over the Quins, who have made a terrific opening with victories against Newport, Bridgend and Llanelli.

Carmarthen, who finished second in the table in 2013/14, did the double over Bedwas last season and dished out a seven-try, 47-15 thumping on their journey east.

Law says that his side need to play to their full potential if they are to spark their season into life by turning over a side that are sure to be in the playoff shake-up.

He said: "It's been a frustrating and disappointing start to the season for us and any side that doesn't win their home games will be in trouble.

"There are some positives but we are in the results business and after getting a good win at Cross Keys we failed to kick on against Aberavon.

"We are scoring points and in patches we look unplayable but if we make the same fundamental mistakes as we have recently then we will be in trouble against Carmarthen Quins.

"They have got it right over the past few seasons and we will need to put in a much-improved performance.

"The boys understand what is expected of them and if we play to our potential then we are more than capable of getting the win."

Bedwas are boosted by the return of experienced back row forward Deri Mattravers and they have a trio of Dragons in flanker James Benjamin, scrum-half Luc Jones and Matthew Pewtner, who slots in at 13.
