WALES hooker Scott Baldwin knows that he cannot allow his set piece to falter again if he gets the nod to face the All Blacks this weekend, writes Chris Kirwan.

The Ospreys front rower made his first Test start against Fiji last weekend but mixed a promising first half with a poor second half.

It was chance to impress in the absence of Lions hooker Richard Hibbard but Baldwin was frustrated with his performance in the 17-13 win.

He said: "I had a couple of carries and made a few carries but I'm really disappointed with my set-piece game. It didn't go well and that's something I pride myself on.

"We worked on our driving mauls and it was nice to see them work but I let them off the hook when I threw in not straight from five metres out.

"I'm confident we would have scored had we kept that ball."

Baldwin acknowledged that a repeat of their loose performance against the Fijians will see them drubbed by the world champions on Saturday evening.

New Zealand rested a number of big guns against Scotland and spluttered to a 24-16 success, so head to Cardiff with a point to prove themselves.

"It was unacceptable," said Baldwin. "We're a better team than that as we showed against Australia.

"We lost our structure and tried some silly offloads. You have to get over the gain-line when they aren't on and let the backs do their stuff out-wide.

"We have to pick it up against the All Blacks. It will be hard against New Zealand if we play like that.

"The boys know it wasn't acceptable and I don't think the performance will be the same. The best team in the world are coming here so we have to front up and do better."
