ALEX Cuthbert has scored in four consecutive Tests yet the Wales winger is still the one being warned about the dangers of a try machine.

The Cardiff Blues speedster is set to go head-to-head with New Zealand superstar Julian Savea, who has a staggering record of 29 tries in 32 Tests.

Not that Cuthbert's 14 in 28 international games is too shabby and the 24-year-old is on a hot streak after scoring in the two summer defeats to South Africa as well as the autumn loss to Australia and the win against Fiji.

He still has two games to go before he equals the record set by Shane Williams in 2008 and another four scoring Tests before he can go level with John Kirwan, Christian Cullen and Daisuke Ohata.

But Cuthbert would swap a five-pointer for a rare southern hemisphere scalp at the Millennium Stadium.

He said: "I guess as a winger it's good to score as many tries as possible, but my job is part of the team performance.

"I'd rather not score any tries and win every game than win the odd match and score some tries. The team are putting me in situations where I can do my job."

Savea came off the bench in last weekend's 24-16 win against Scotland and is set to be recalled by Steve Hansen as the All Blacks attempt to finish another stellar year on a high.

"His record speaks for itself," said Cuthbert, who outscored Savea 1-0 in the 2012 loss in Cardiff. "They try to get the ball to him as much as possible, the same as Wales do with me and George (North).

"He's one of the best wingers in the world and I don't think there's anyone near him at the moment.

"I played against him a couple of years ago and he's definitely come on from there with his all-round game.

"He's solid in terms of his attack and defence and in the air. He looks to put other players in as well and he has added to his game.

"That's what I want to do in my career. I want to get all those aspects up to scratch."

Cuthbert will wear 14 on his back on Saturday but, regardless of his try-scoring prowess, is coming under pressure from the in-form Liam Williams.

The Scarlets man has to be content with a place on the bench the weekend after being named as man of the match against Fiji and the fierce competition for places is welcome.

"That's exactly what we need because it gives us strength in depth in the squad.

"Look at how good a game Liam had at the weekend and he's on the bench, it shows the depth we have in that back three. He's pushing me, George and Leigh in training."
