NEWPORT supporters have voted for Jon Morris as the Black and Ambers’ star player in November and December.

The 22-year-old winger has been a real success since joining the Black and Ambers from Newbridge in the summer, catching the eye with his pace, energy and work rate.

Morris has scored five tries including one in last week’s terrific 25-21 win against playoff-chasing Carmarthen Quins.

That hard-earned success, on the back of their Swalec Cup win against Aberavon, lifted Newport off the bottom of the table but the Black and Ambers are denied the chance to build momentum.

They were scheduled to take on table-topping Pontypridd but the champions are instead in British and Irish Cup action against Worcester.

The Friends of Newport Rugby will, subject to demand, be running a bus to the Swalec Cup, round two encounter with Tata Steel on Saturday, February 21. Email kevin.jarvis@ntlworld to register your interest.
